The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the pitch ratings on Tuesday for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The 2024 World Cup was hosted by both West Indies and USA. The ICC gave out poor ratings to total three pitches out of which two are from the USA and one is from West Indies.
The Nassau County Cricket Stadium in new York was where eight of the group-stage matches were held. The pitch of this venue has been put under investigation. The ICC described the pitch as ‘unsatisfactory’. Every team who played on this pitch has been seen struggling.
The highest ever score made on this pitch was 137-7, which Canada made against Ireland. The problem with this stadium is that the ground uses drop-in pitches. This causes the ball to have random bounces. However, apart from all these, this pitch still has received a decent rating.
The pitch for the India-Pakistan match at the 2024 T20 World Cup in New York also barely escaped the ‘unsatisfactory’ rating. Instead, the ICC gave the rating of ‘satisfactory’ to both the pitches.

The ICC overall rated 31 pitches as ‘satisfactory’ and 18 as ‘very good’. However, the poor ratings to the Nassau County Stadium and Brian Lara Cricket Stadium raised questions about the future of pitches of West Indies. It will be interesting to see how many more matches will be played on these grounds if the situation continues to be the way it is.
