India completed 68 years of Independence on August 15, 2014. Cricketers, not only in India but all over the world sent in their wishes to India on the Independence Day. Among the early ones to wish the country were Bishan Singh Bedi, Adam Gilchrist, Dean Jones and others.
As far as cricket is concerned, India will be playing on the Independence Day. Interestingly, India will be playing at The Oval for the third time on Independence Day. They will take on England in the fifth and final Test. Among cricketers, Vijay Hemlata and R Vijay Bharadwaj are the only Indian cricketers to have born on their country’s Independence Day.
