India A beat South Africa A by seven wickets in the final day of the 1st unofficial Test at the Greenfield Stadium, Trivandrum, chasing down a target of 48 runs for the loss of three wickets.
Resuming day four at 179/9 with a lead of 40 runs, South Africa could only add seven more runs before Shardul Thakur removed Lutho Sipamla for eight to end South Africa A’s innings at 186. In the first innings, SA A were bundled out for 164 and in reply, India A had scored 303, riding on Shubman Gill‘s 90 and Jalaj Saxena‘s 61*.
On a rain hit day on day three, Saxena and Shahbaz Nadeem picked two wickets each in SA A’s second innings.
Chasing the modest total, India A lost Gill (5), Ankit Bawne (6) and KS Bharat (5) ealy, but Ricky Bhui (20*) and Shivam Dubey (12*) saw their team home.
Earlier, after India A skipper Gill won the toss and opted to field, Thakur (3/29) and Mohammad Siraj (1/20) had reduced SA A to 20/4. Rearguard effort from Marco Jansen (45) and Dane Piedt (33) to SA A total to 164. Off spinner Krishnappa Gautam picked 3/64.
In the second innings, Zubayr Hamza (44), Heinrich Klassen (48) and Wiaan Mulder (46) helped their team to 186.
