In the name of a 113-run loss against New Zealand, Team India has lost their first Test series at home ground after 12 years. This series loss came as India lost both the first and the second Tests against New Zealand.
As they were chasing 359 to win the match, third session continued for India as they were at 178/7, where they lost their remaining three wickets. Before getting all out for 245, the last three wickets were of Ravichandran Ashwin (18), Akash Deep (1), and Ravindra Jadeja (42) respectively. This marked the first Test defeat in home ground for India after the defeat against England in 2012-13.
Since New Zealand had won the opening Test by 8 wickets, they now celebrate their first-ever series victory in India since they have been touring here in 1955-56.
Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner was the most crucial player in he downfall of India’s bating lineup as he single-handedly kept Indian players struggling at 178/7 when it was time for tea.
