World No. 1 ranked Test all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has said that the Indian cricket team can expect criticism if they continue to fail against Australia. The Indian cricket team fought really hard but failed to win any match on their eventful tour in 2014-15, wherein they lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15 0-2 and were unsuccessful in the tri-series, with the third team being England. India will be touring Australia in January 2016, for a limited-overs series that includes five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against the world champions and three Twenty20 Internationals. The squad has already been announced with few surprised packages in Brainder Sran, Hardik Pandya and veteran Yuvraj Singh coming back into the side. ALSO READ: India squad for ODI series of Australia
Ashwin told The Hindu, “If we win, it will be very good and if we don’t we know what we will get (in terms of criticism). It will give an idea of the limited-overs combination that Australia will provide and these battles will always happen.” ALSO READ: Ravindra Jadeja makes comeback to India ODI squad for tour of Australia
India’s tour of Australia will begin on January 12 with the first ODI set to be played at the Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) ground in Perth. The second ODI will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane on January 15, the third on January 17 at Melbourne, fourth at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on January 20, and the fifth and the final at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on January 23.
The three-match T20I series begins on January 26 at the Adelaide Oval with the first match. The second and third T20Is will be played on January 29 and 31 at Melbourne and Sydney.
