The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to finalise the revised itinerary of India’s tour of South Africa. BCCI had expressed dissatisfaction about the way the schedule was lined up.
The Indian board was supposed to come out with a finalised itinerary during the July 28 BCCI Working Committee Meeting in Kolkata.
“I don’t know. It will be announced after being finalised,” BCCI GM (Game Development) Ratnakar Shetty was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
Even though the BCCI cited dissatisfaction over the gaps between the three Tests, the real problem seems to be the appointment of Haroon Lorgat as the CEO of Cricket South Africa (CSA).
According to reports, Lorgat is in constant touch with BCCI interim president Jagmohan Dalmiya to eliminate the issues. The Indian board was not happy with the way Lorgat was appointed as the chief of CSA in place of tainted Gerald Majola.
Lorgat, during his tenure as ICC CEO, had many showdowns with BCCI over Future Tours Programme and implementation of the Decision Review System.
Moreover, Lorgat has to negotiate with Dalmiya, who is also the Cricket Association of Bengal president. ICC under Lorgat decided to not let Eden Gardens host the India-England World Cup match in 2011.
