India to play 4 Test matches against Australia at Bengaluru, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Pune

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India's domestic as well as international schedule on Thursday for 2016-17.

The back to back schedule of India seems to find no end as they will be playing 4 Test matches against Australia in 2017. The venues for include Bangalore, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Pune. BCCI have announced various other schedules apart from Test series against Australia that includes 5 Test matches against England at Mohali, Rajkot, Mumbai, Vizag and Chennai, stand alone Test match against Bangladesh at Hyderabad and 3 Test series against New Zealand at Indore, Kanpur and Kolkata. All will be played in India. India’s domestic season will kick off in the month of September where in for the first time ever, Duleep Trophy will be played under lights and with a Pink Ball. ALSO READ: India announce venues for 5 Tests against England

Apart from the Test matches, India will also be playing ODI and T20 series against England that will be held at Pune, Cuttack, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Nagpur and Kanpur respectively. India will also be hosting New Zealand for ODI series at Dharamsala, Delhi, Mohali, Ranchi and Vizag. In short, India will play 13 Test matches, 8 ODIs and 3 T20I matches in 2016-17 cricketing season.

As per BCCI press release, Mr. Anurag Thakur, said, “I welcome the new Test venues hosting this prestigious format of cricket and their arrival will take Test match cricket, to every corner of the country. We are equally excited about the domestic season as we will be playing the Duleep trophy with the pink ball under lights and take this opportunity to welcome Chhattisgarh, who will play Ranji trophy for the first time. A combined team of Affiliate & Associate states will participate in the junior age group tournaments, which will provide the much needed opportunity to the emerging players from these areas. This further reaffirms our commitment to spread the game by providing the appropriate platforms to our next generation cricketer.”
