South African fast-bowler Dale Steyn has stated that he has specific plans in place for the Indian batsmen, but feels that the Indian batsmen will not be intimidated by his short-bowling.
Writing in his column for Times of India, Steyn declared, “I have specific plans for all of the Indian batsmen and I can’t wait to put them in action. It doesn’t mean they will work, but at least we will have plans and will have worked out where we believe the Indian batsmen are vulnerable and can be attacked.”
Steyn also made it clear that the South Africans aim to make the Indian batsmen feel uncomfortable. For that to happen, he believes South Africa have to look at the conditions, which are quite different from those in India.
Writing about bowling short, Steyn believes, “But this Indian team is very ‘modern’ and they will not be intimidated by the short ball. They all know what to expect and I know they won’t be vulnerable to a barrage of bouncers.”
Steyn also wrote that Duncan Fletcher is a smart coach. “Duncan Fletcher is one of the smartest coaches in the world so we know there will be no lack of preparation — and we’re not expecting to catch India by surprise.”
