New Delhi: Former cricketer Madan Lal on Sunday attributed India’s loss at the hands of Zimbabwe in the second T20 match at Harare to a lack of a solid batting performance. “We lost because of batting, we couldn’t bat well…This was a good opportunity for new players to establish themselves, we should have won the match,” Lal told ANI. Zimbabwe beat India by 10 runs earlier today to level the T20 series 1-1 at Harare Sports Club. Batting first, Zimbabwe scored 145-7 with the help of opener Chamu Chibhabha’s top score of 67 from 51 balls. India, however, could manage just 135-9 after leg-spinner Graeme Cremer took 3-18 for the hosts. SCORECARD: India vs Zimbabwe, 2nd T20I at Harare

According to PTI, India’s captain Ajinkya Rahane said, “We did not bat well today, we accept that. We lost wickets continuously. That’s why pressure was built. It’s disappointing to lose the game today…But we played pretty well in the one-dayers and T20. Overall, I am happy with the performance of boys in the tour.” He went on to say, “145 was achievable, our bowlers did very well, especially in the last five overs. But we could not do well with the bat. Let us give credit to Zimbabwe. They played good cricket and deserved to win today. I think they were fantastic with the ball and fielded well as well today.” (With inputs from PTI) UPDATES: India vs Zimbabwe, 2nd T20I at Harare
