Indian team management get into the action once again to cement India‘s semi-final chances as on a special request from them, the pitch of Mohali has been changed. India are set to take on Australia in a crucial match at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Sunday and as revealed by an inside source, the management requested for a turning pitch different to the one during the match between Australia and Pakistan at the same ground few days back. The hosts have won two matches of the three they have played while Australia have also won the similar number of matches. According to a report in Hindustan Times, a source revealed, “The game was scheduled to be played on a pitch which would have played similar to the one that was used for the Pakistan-Australia match. But India weren’t happy and have now requested a change. Now, the pitch that they have chosen will assist spin and maybe inconsistent bounce.”

While curator Daljit Singh maintained silence over the matter, a source says, “You have seen what happened during last year’s Test against South Africa. PCA is known for its quick wicket. But the highest total in that match was 201 by India in the first innings. Moreover, the same pitch will be used for the women’s match between India and West Indies before India take on Australia. There will definitely be some wear and tear. The pitch is likely to slow down in the evening.”

A similar scenario was seen during India’s first match against New Zealand played at Nagpur as after the match, the pitch had been described as a ‘poor’ one for its biased favor to spinners. However, India fell prey to their own trick as they looked helpless in front of New Zealand spinners and started the tournament with a defeat.
