Hardik Pandya received his maiden Test call-up for India AFP

India, who are currently engaged in a fierce Test against England at Mohali, had bad news, as Hardik Pandya was declared unfit. The all-rounder sustained a shoulder injury during training session, and has now been released from the squad. To make matters worse, opener KL Rahul had injured his left forearm during the second Test at Visakhapatnam. Along with Pandya, he was also released from the side for recovery. Rahul is expected to be fit for the fourth Test at Mumbai. India are currently leading the five-Test series 1-0. At the time of publishing the report, India were 60 for 1, trailing England by 263 runs at lunch on Day Two. Full Cricket Scorecard: India vs England 3rd Test at Mohali

Pandya’s inclusion in the Test side was debated across cricketing circles. Pandya made his international debut in the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Australia earlier this year. Pandya’s name to fame was when he successfully defended 11 runs in a decisive tie against Bangladesh, in ICC World T20 2016. Rahul had earlier missed two Tests and five ODIs against New Zealand after suffering a hamstring injury. Rahul was drafted in the side for England series after scoring a fifty and a ton for Karnataka in Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Rahul, in his small injury-prone international career, has played 10 Tests for India.

India in the Test series versus England have been plagued by injuries, as India’s regular wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was ruled out of the Mohali Test after scans revealed that he suffered from tendonitis.
