While Team India were busy preparing for the first Test in Cape Town against South Africa, the Newlands stadium officials managed to avoid embarrassment involving the Indian national flag. The Newlands stadium, while hoisting the flag, positioned it upside down. As is the norm in any tour, India s flag was hoisted right to the press box alongside the flag of South Africa and Cricket South Africa (CSA).

Thanks to the quick thinking of ground personnel, a huge mistake by the Newlands official was corrected. The flag remained hoisted upside down for most part of the day until the Indian team completed their training. One of the personnel noticed the error and rectified the same instantly.

As for the first Test, Hardik Pandya s heroics with both bat and ball came as a saving grace for India in Cape Town on Day Two. Pandya scored 93 and also picked the wickets of South Africa openers. South Africa have stretched their lead to 142 runs with eight wickets on hand.

South Africa have, however, received their first blow with Dale Steyn ruled out of Test series due to bruised heel.
