A determined fight by MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane came to an end when the Indian skipper was caught by Alviro Petersen off Robin Peterson for 15 runs. Peterson got one more wicket when an over-ambitious Ravindra Jadeja thrw his wicket away trying to attack the spinner. He was caught by Morne Morkel scoring just eight runs.

India looked to rebuild through Rahane and Dhoni who settled in after the loss of Rohit Sharma when India were on 104 for five. The 42-run partnership had revived India’s hopes. Dhoni was set up by a leg-side field to which he eventually fell for. Peterson consistently tried to pitch the ball in the rough outside Dhoni’s leg and forced him to play shots on the leg. Dhoni eventually hit one in the air on the leg where mid-wicket got a simple catch.
