Sri Lanka and India will resume their rivalry as the Island nation is set to tour India in January for a bilateral series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Wednesday.
As per the earlier schedule released by the BCCI, Zimbabwe was scheduled to tour India. However, in the wake of the ICC suspension on Zimbabwe, BCCI decided to invite Sri Lanka for a three-match T20I series.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket announced the schedule for forthcoming Sri Lanka’s tour of India during the month of January 2020,” said BCCI in a media release.

“Sri Lanka will play a three-match T20I series against India,” added the Indian cricket board.
The three-match series will kick off on January 5 (on Sunday) in Guwahati. The next two T20Is of the series will be played in Indore and Pune respectively on January 7 (on Tuesday) and January 10 (on Friday).
“Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed their participation,” said BCCI.
“In the wake of Zimbabwe’s suspension by ICC, the BCCI invited Sri Lanka to participate in the three-match series,” concluded BCCI.
Australia will also travel to India to play three ODIs later in January 2020. In March 2020, South Africa will tour India for three ODIs.
India will kick start their three-match Test series against South Africa on October 2 following which they will face Bangladesh in three-match T20Is and two-Test series in November.
After Bangladesh, West Indies will tour India and the two teams will be involved in three T20Is and three ODIs, starting from December 6.
