Sri Lanka and their love affair with injuries don’t seem to end. After almost every top player being tarnished with injury all across the India series, now at the very last leg of the tour, Milinda Siriwardana could be the latest entrant in many. Siriwardana complained of tightness in the back and hamstring ahead of one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) against India on Wednesday.
Sri Lankan management has called in Ashan Priyahan as cover up for Siriwardana. He will undergo a fitness test on the day of the match. Siriwardana has been one of Sri Lanka’s most consistence batsmen across the One-Day International (ODI) series.
Priyanjan last played for Sri Lanka in 2015 against Pakistan. He so far has played 23 ODIs but is yet to feature in a T20I game for Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka selectors included leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay and all-arounder Dasun Shanaka for the last and final match of India’s tour of Sri Lanka. Apart from Vandersay and Shanaka, they also recalled Isuru Udana and Vikum Sanjaya in the 15-member squad.
Sri Lanka lost the Test and One-Day International (ODI) series 0-3 and 0-5 respectively.
Squad: Upul Tharanga (c), Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Angelo Mathews, Dilshan Munaweera, Dasun Shanaka, Milinda Siriwardana, Wanidu Hasaranga, Akila Dananjaya, Seekkuge Prasanna, Thisara Perera, Isuru Udana, Vikum Sanjaya, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Malinga, Jeffrey Vandersay, Ashan Priyanjan.
