FIFTY for Hetmyer off 42 balls. This has been a wonderful exhibition of hitting from the young 21-year-old Shimron Hatmyer. He tonks Yuzvendra Chahal for a massive six to bring up his third half-century. West Indies require 166 with seven wickets in hand and the rate at which they are scoring, they are very much in with a chance. Hetmyer has five sixes and is yet to hit a boundary in this innings.

UPDATE: India finish on 321 for 6 in 50 overs.

With six overs to go, the way Kohli switched gears was phenomenal. Shortly after he brought up his 1000th run this calendar year, making him the quickest in terms of innings (11), Kohli smoked Kemar Roach deep into the crowd at long-on. Two balls later, McCoy’s length ball was muscled into the second tier at cow corner. Then came West Indies’ quickest Roach, who was taken for a six and a four off two deliveries. Another boundary, off the last ball of the over, brought up India’s 300. The next two overs fetched India 21 runs but by then, with Kohli bringing up his fourth 150-plus score in ODIs.

  • 4:49 PM IST

And there you have it. With a push down to long on, Virat Kohli becomes the fastest player to 10000 runs in ODI cricket. He is the 5th India to get to the feat and the 13th overall. What a player, what appetite for runs. And he’s not done yet. He is approaching century No. 37. India 211/3 in 38 overs and will be eyeing nothing less than 350.

  • 4:03 PM IST

  • 3:10 PM IST

DROPPED: Kohli gets a reprieve on 44. Big moment in the game. West Indies captain Jason Holder makes a mess of a chance. Kohli skied the ball high in the air and the Windies skipper, running backwards spills a chance. Not an easy chance by any meant but Holder never looked in control. Hardly gets his hand to it. This is not what West Indies would want. Chances are far and few and they can’t afford to miss them.

  • 3:04 PM IST
