India win the first One-Day International (ODI) match against Sri Lanka by 108 runs at Ranchi, leaving no scope for runs right since the beginning of the Sri Lanka innings. Prasadani Weerakkodi remained the only highest scorer for Sri Lanka with her half-century including seven 4s. India’s Shikha Pandey got her first wicket in 2nd over. India were conceding just two to three runs per over and Deepti Sharma grabbed the opportunity of second wicket, leading to fall of wickets at regular intervals. Sri Lanka began their innings with an early wicket of Chamari Athapaththu in 1.2 overs scoring just 1 run from 7 balls while Prasadani Weerakkodi was the only high scorer for her team securing 69 runs from 113 balls, picked by Shikha Pandey. Sri Lanka were continuing the innings at 2 runs per over and Prasadani managed to reach half-century to provide some runs on board. The second wicket was grabbed by Deepti Sharma bowling out Lasanthi Madushani for 15 runs from 42 balls including two boundaries. Prasadani was firm at her place and continued her innings while the wickets were falling on the other side. After 15 overs, Sri Lanka lost their third wicket of Oshadi Ranashinge with Poonam Yadav getting the first wicket, just when Sri Lanka reached 100 runs mark in 31 overs. Eshani Lokusuriyage came into to bat with India grabbing this opportunity and getting their fourth wicket in span of 3 overs from previous wicket, Prasadani had to be shown the way out after an commendable innings with Poonam getting her second wicket. Sri Lanka started crumbling Down Under with continuous wickets falling in every over with Shashikala Siriwardene run out by Jhulan Goswami for 3 runs, Ama Kanchana going for duck and Udeshika Prabodhani out for 3. Poonam Yadav strikes with 4 wickets getting last wicket of the innings.
