The India Women’s team is all set to start their ICC Women’s World T20 2016 campaign as they face the Bangladesh Women in their inaugural match on Tuesday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. The ICC Women’s World T20 2016 event will go side-by-side with the Men’s event. India Men’s team also play their first match on Tuesday. India Women are in exceptional form currently, having won 6 T20Is on the trot (three against Australia Women at their den, three against Sri Lanka at home), and are expected to do brilliantly in the tournament. On the other hand, Bangladesh Women have pulled off a decent job to win a few matches. Live Cricket Score, India Women vs Bangladesh Women, 1st T20 Match, Group B at Bangalore
The India Women are in a terrific form. Captain Mithali Raj, nothing short of a living legend, is a strong opener and has very a good understanding with her partner Vellaswamy Vanitha, who may be sent up the order ahead of Smriti Mandhana. Mithali and Vanitha are capable of laying the foundation, while Smriti, next man in, also has a potential to act according to situations and play aggressive as well as sensible cricket. The main strength of India Women’s middle-order is Harmanpreet Kaur, who has helped India win many a contests with single-handed efforts post top-order collapses.
Talking about India’s bowling, the attack is led by experienced and in-form Jhulan Goswami, once again, nothing short of a legend. Jhulan has a tendency to get the openers at the beginning, which helps India restrict the opponents within an achievable total. To boost the attack, the team has Anuja Patil and Shikha Pandey, who have played impressive cricket in the past few matches. The most dependable spinner in the squad is Ekta Bisht, who will have a huge role to play in the Indian conditions.
Bangladesh Women, on the other hand, has had a mixed time in cricket in the last few months. The key player for the team in the T20I format is Rumana Ahmed. Rumana, a middle-order No. 5, scores crucial runs while being very much successful with ball in hand. Bangladesh Women are still fighting with the form of their batswomen, with the exception of Rumana. Fargana Hoque in the middle-order is also another batsman who has countered that in the past few matches to put up a competitive score.
The Bangladesh Women’s team is based upon their bowling attack. Apart from Rumana, captain Jahanara Alam and Salma Khatun can affect the opponents’ batting with their spells. While India will look to get the weak Bangladesh top-order, Bangladesh will have to find a way to prevent India’s heavy batting line up from scoring.
