England continued to struggle for runs in the Only T20 International at Edgbaston and Ravichandran Ashwin, after struggling with his line early on bowled a tidy over to put pressure on the English batsman.Seven runs came of the over and Ravindra JAdeja, in typical fashion harried and stifled the batsmen and gave nothing away as big hits continued to elude the English batsmen in the only T20.
England were just begining to get back in the game through the big hitting willow of Alex Hales but Ajinkya Rahane took a stunning running catch from long on to take a low diving catch at in the mid-on region to get India back in the game to reduce the hosts to 75 for three. Eoin Morgan wasted no time in getting proceedings under way and smashed a sweep shot over deep mid-wicket for a six. Karn Sharma bowled a tidy over to put the well-set Joe Root under pressure and a top edge from the English batsman saw yet another smart outfield catch from Ambati Rayudu this time around to put India in command of proceedings at the end of 12 overs.
Karn Sharma bowled his first over in international cricket soon after the powerplay. Off the fifth ball of that over, Hales hit one behind point and that went for four although Mohit Sharma dived in the deep. That over went for a total of seven runs as the batsmen had knocked around a few. Ravindra Jadeja started off at the other end, with the crowd chanting, “Oh Ravi Jadeja.” Jadeja bowled a no-ball in the over, but the free-hit did not yield much.
Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bat first. Jason Roy made his debut for England. For India, Ambati Rayudu and Karn Sharma made their T20 International debuts. The captains, MS Dhoni and Eoin Morgan are playing their respective 50th T20 Internationals. Morgan has played a few for Ireland though. Dhoni has played 49 of those as captain.
