In the full house grand finale of the 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) between Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), pacer Jaydev Unadkat lit up the moment with a lightening quick catch of opener Lendl Simmons. It was only the third over of the match and MI were already under pressure as they had lost Parthiv Patel for cheap earlier in the first ball of the same over. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: RPS vs MI – Final
Bowling his only second over, Unadkat bowled a length ball off-cutter to Simmons, which he tried to flick on the leg side it but got a leading edge. Unadkat put in a dive towards his strong side (left), while the ball was dipping but plucked it before it kissed the ground. The catch would have been almost impossible for any fast bowler to execute it perfectly, especially while he is recovering with his follow-through. Surely, this catch would go under the list of top three catches of the season, this may probably top the chart. Such catches are worth watching on repeat every time.
Unadkat has been brilliant with the ball for RPS in this season of IPL. And this is not the first time when Unadkat has pouched such a stunning catch. Besides being impressive with bowling, he has done well with fielding as well. With Simmons’ wicket, Unadkat has now taken 24 wickets in this season and need 3 more go past Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has the most.
