Pune Warriors India (PWI) batsman Graeme Smith is set to miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) to undergo surgery for ankle injury.
Cricket South Africa said on Sunday that the Proteas Test skipper required an operation on his left ankle, which had been troubling him for two months, and would need eight to 10 weeks to recover.
Due to which the left-handed opening batsman won’t be able to play in the IPL Twenty20 tournament, which begins this week.
CSA said the 31-year-old, would have the ankle operation on Tuesday so he can recover in time for the three-Test tour to England, which starts in July.
