Siddharth Chitnis, Azhar Mahmood and Gurkeerat Singh helped Kings XI Punjab to 141 for eight after they suffered early blows in their Indian Premier League match against Delhi Daredevils at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
After electing to bowl first, Delhi pacer Umesh ran through the Kings XI top order as the home side was left reeling at 20 for four in the fifth over.
Opener Mandeep Singh failed to open his account as he fell on the very first delivery he faced off Umesh.
Kings XI skipper Adam Gilchrist fell in the next over of the right-arm India pacer, scoring nine off 12 deliveries he faced.
KXIP batsman Paul Valthaty’s struggle continues as he scored only 2 off 10 deliveries he faced, before falling to Morne Morkel.
Umesh left KXIP reeling when he got the key wicket of David Hussey in the fifth over.
Azhar Mahmood and Siddharth Chitnis then teamed up to bail their side out of trouble, adding a crucial 57 runs for the fifth wicket.
