Pune Warriors India (PWI) have reached the score of 182 runs for home team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 21st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 at Bengaluru.
Earlier, winning the toss, Pune captain Sourav Ganguly had opted to bat first on the batting-friendly track at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Jesse Ryder and Robin Uthappa give rollicking start to PWI. Ryder, coming at the back of match-winning performance against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday looked in good touch. The southpaw did not spare his New Zealand team-mate Daniel Vettori.
But Ryder perished after scoring 34 runs as he scooped a catch to Mayank Agarwal off the bowling of Harshal Patel.
The end of the 63-run partnership between the two openers seemed to have little effect on Uthappa who continued to hammer the Bangalore bowlers and reached his fifty in the tenth overs after the ‘Strategic Time –out’.
The opener’s aggressive innings soon was brought to a halt as RCB skipper Vettori dismissed him for 69 runs.
Middle-order batsman Marlon Samuels consolidated the innings as he and Steve Smith built a 47-run partnership before being dismissed by sharp fielding by AB de Villiers as he was run out for 34 runs.
Brief Score PWI 182 for 6 in 20 overs (Robin Uthappa 69, Marlon Samuels 34, Jesse Ryder 34; R Vinay Kumar 2 for 34, Harshal Patel 1 for 29, Daniel Vettori 1 for 34) vs RCB
