Rohit Sharma’s brilliant innings against Deccan Chargers (DC) has reaffirmed his status as one of the most destructive batsman in the shorter version of the game. Soon after the match which can be regarded as the first thriller of Indian Premier League (IPL) season five, Sharma’s phone kept buzzing all through the night with congratulatory calls and messages from friends and relatives.
However one particular message attracted his attention. It was sent by his India teammate Yuvraj Singh who has just returned to India after his treatment in the US.
“Yuvi paaji was the first to congratulate me,” mentioned Sharma.
“It was a simple ‘well done, brother’ message, and it meant a lot to me. I would like to dedicate the knock to him and I hope he gets well soon. He’s gone through so much over the last few months and you have no idea how much we’ve missed him in the dressing room. He’s been my biggest well-wisher, more like an older brother, and I am glad he is finally home. I can’t wait to meet him,” Sharma was quoted as saying by DNA.
Sharma recalls, “He is my best friend in the team. We get along very well.” Yuvraj had even mentioned once that, Sharma has to score at least 10,000 test runs or else it would be a waste of talent.
Talking about the pressure in the last over of the match, Sharma added, “Eighteen runs off six balls may seem impossible, but as a batsman, you have to believe that it’s gettable. If you don’t, then you’ve already lost the match!”
