Pune Warriors India and the Delhi Daredevils battle to avoid the last spot in the points table at the Indian Premier League (IPL), 2013. Both teams finish their tumultuous seasons with this encounter at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium and would want to sign off with a win. Pune and Delhi have won two games apiece and the latter are ahead by virtue of the net-run-rate.

Pune are coming into this game with a victory over Kolkata Knight Riders at Ranchi. It was a good performance as their batsmen put the runs on the board and the bowlers defended the total with spirit. They would certainly take that confidence into this match.

Manish Pandey came good the other day and will hope to carry his form forward. A pertinent feature for Pune this season has been the good form of their openers. Skipper Aaron Finch and Robin Uthappa have given them good starts on numerous occasions, only to see it get wasted. Yuvraj Singh has had a difficult season, but has shown signs of form.

On the bowling front, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been the bright spot and is their spearhead. Unable to find momentum, Pune made several changes to their line-up during the season, using as many as 26 players in their roster. It is difficult to predict the side they will field on a particular day.

Coming to Delhi, they have had their moments, but couldn’t capitalise on them. In a few games, they have looked threatening, but didn’t finish the job. Mahela Jayawardene, Virender Sehwag and David Warner are their main batsmen. However, some of the youngsters may get a chance to shine. During the last game, they tinkered with the batting and it did not work well. Sehwag batted in the middle order, but this time they might want him to open the batting.

Like Pune, they too have made many changes to their eleven and have used 22 players this season. They have numerous bowling options and they have shuffled them this season. Since, it is an inconsequential encounter; they may introduce some new players and give them a go.

Usually, when two strong teams clash, it is difficult to pick a winner. In this case, both teams have had prolonged struggles and one cannot really say who will emerge on top. It is only a question of pride when they face-off on Sunday.
