A bookie and nine of his associates were arrested in Kolkata, police on Thursday said, adding that they were investigating if the culprits had links with the ongoing IPL spot fixing controversy.
Bookie Ajit Surekha and others were nabbed on Wednesday night from their hideout in north Kolkata and several mobile phones, a laptop and cash were seized, police said.
“Although we are yet to find any links with the ongoing IPL spot fixing scam, we are probing the matter,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh.
All the 10 accused were presented in a city court. The accused were arrested in a joint operation by the police special task force and detective department, an official said.
