Shaun Marsh is on a high after leading Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to a nail-biting win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 match at Ahmedabad. Marsh top scored for KXIP with a 40-ball 65, which paved the way for the rest of the batsmen to follow. He now believes that his side can beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their next match. Steven Smith, James Faulkner, Shane Watson were the right batsmen for the super over, says Ajinkya Rahane

“We said after we lost the last game that if we had to compete, we had to beat the two best teams – Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings in a few days. We have beaten the Royals tonight and it would be a big challenge again in few days time against the Chennai (Super Kings). I think the confidence going there from tonight puts us in good stead,” said Marsh, according to iplt20.com  Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab IPL 2015 Match 18 at Ahmedabad: Highlights

Marsh talks about both the innings he played today—one in the regular match and one during the super over. “It was fantastic to be back in the team and get a few runs and help the team get over the line. It was a really important game for us tonight to go one up. [At one stage] we were playing catch, but that win gives us the confidence and gets us back in the mix. So I am really happy,” said a jubilant Marsh. PHOTOS: Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab, IPL 2015: Match 18 at Ahmedabad

Marsh goes onto say that his team has a lot of confidence in it’s tail, who played a huge role in leveling the scores. We have got lot of confidence in our tail. They can all play good cricket. They are all really good batters; so that’s wasn’t an issue. We just had to keep going, I think the run rate got to 13 [runs per over] so we just had no choice but to take the game on and try and get as close as we could. We always knew that, and like I said we were only a few big overs away and then we were back in the game. It worked out well to get a four off the last ball, get a Super Over and it was just fantastic!,” said Marsh. Marsh also believes that his team had no other choice but to play positive cricket. He also praises his teammate David Miller, who carried on even after Marsh’s dismissal. “We sort of had no choice but to continue on and play really positively while chasing a decent total. Me and Davy (David Miller) in the middle, we knew that we were just one or two big overs away to get back in the mix and we did that. Davy did that and carried on and batted fantastically after I got out,” Marsh added.

KXIP play their next match against CSK on April 25 at Chennai.
