The 2015 IPL auction saw another moment of history as few big purchases with mega amount on big players rocked the event. The mini-auctiond for the eighth edition of the IPL was held in Bangalore and only a few notable marquee players were up for auction. Delhi Daredevils made the maximum purchase as they released most of the players from their squad owing to a dismal performance last season. Yuvraj Singh was the star buy for Rs. 16 crore by Delhi Daredevils, followed by Dinesh Karthik for Rs. 10.5 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Angelo Mathews of Sri Lanka for Rs. 7.5 crore by Delhi.

The IPL Auction 2015 has been quite surprising, as Yuvraj Singh emerged as the costliest cricketer and some unknown names such as KC Cariappa and Shreyas Iyer raked in crores. The price has surprisingly soared to Rs 2.80 crores. RCB take David Wiese for Rs 2.80 crores.
Apparently Yuvraj Singh was sleeping this morning when the auction was going on and he was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils for Rs 16 lakhs.

10.30 AM IST: The first two rounds of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions 2015 is over with Yuvraj Singh leading the table with a huge price of Rs 16 crores. The Indian all-rounder may not be among those in contention for the national side but the price on which he was bought shows that he remains one of the hottest properties in the IPL. England captain in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), Eoin Morgan is in with the base price of Rs 1.50 crores. He goes to Sunrisers Hyderabad for the same amount.
Australia T20 captain and opening batsman Aaron Finch is in the auction with the base price of Rs 1 crore. Finch has been sold to the IPL side Mumbai Indians for Rs 3.20 crores.
Leg-spinner Amit Mishra is the next player to be auctioned. His base price is one crore. Rajasthan Royals started the bid, but they were joined by Mumbai Indians and later by Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH look very eager to land Mishra bur he was eventually sold for Rs 3.5 crores to Delhi Daredevils.
Dinesh Karthik‘s base price is at two crores. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings start the bid. There’s a contest betwwrn CSK and RCB but after CSK pulled out mid-way, Delhi Daredevils join in. Sunrisers Hyderabad poke their noses in when the price is at 10 crores. Dinesh Karthik is eventually sold for Rs 10.5 crores to RCB.
Kevin Pietersen is the next player out of the pot and his base price is two crores. Sunrisers Hyderabad are the first team to make the bid and he is sold to them at Rs 2 crores.
Sri Lanka players Kumar Sangakkara ans Mahela Jayawardene base price is Rs 1 crore and they remain unslod, but he will be available at a later stage. All unsold players will be put under the hammer at a later stage.
Star of the show Yuvraj Singh is the next man who will be put for sale. His base price is two crores. Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils engaged in a keen battle to land the superstar. But Royal Challengers Bangalore entered the frame when the price was five crores, thus becoming a new entrant in the bidding. Yuvraj went for 14 crores to the RCB last season and Yuvraj Singh has gone for Rs 16 crores to Delhi Daredevils.
Kane Williamson is the next player up for grabs. His base price is 50 lakhs. Sunrisers Hyderabad made the first bid of the auction and after a brief interest shown by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he is eventually sold for Rs 60 lakhs to Sunrisers.
Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews‘ base pice is fixed at 1.5 crores. Delhi and Mumbai were in a fierce battle to land the star all-rounder. Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians were keen on landing him but Mumbai pulled out after a point and Royal Challengers Bangalore joined in. Mathews is sold to Delhi for 7.5 crores
Murali Vijay‘s base price is 50 Lakhs and after the first bid by CSK, Punjab raised the stakes. The battle went to and fro and CSK eventually pulled out after the bid went over a crore. Then, it was a battle between RCB and Kings XI Punjab. Vijay is now a Kings XI Punjab player for a whooping Rs 3 crores.
Hashim Amla is the first player to go under the hammer. Bidding starts with a sum of two crores. He remains UNSOLD. A big surprise considering Amla’s stature.

Yuvraj Singh was bought for the maximum price of 14 crores by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He was however released recently by the franchise but yet remains one of the star players of this edition of the IPL as well. There’s a cloud that hangs over the fate of Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Their owners N. Srinivasan and Raj Kundra are still facing charges of spot-fixing and their quantum of punishment will be decided by some of the top judges of the Supreme Court. If the two franchisees are eventually scrapped by the Supreme Court, they will not be able to take part in the IPL 8, which starts in April.
