Former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly, believes Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently the focus of all in this year’s IPL because of the way they have turned things around lately. He stated,”It was surprising to see such a team losing matches because their bowling was not standing up to the challenge, but the inclusion of Chris Jordon has really helped them in creating the right balance and as a result they are faring better in the business end of the tournament now.” There bowling have improved after including England’s pacer but Ganguly credited team’s overall change of fortunes because of Virat Kohli, who has been in phenomenal form. Virat Kohli credits RCB bowlers following win over KXIP in IPL 2016
According to the Times of India, Mumbai, Ganguly stated that he has fallen short of adjectives in describing RCB’s skipper. The ‘Bengal Tiger’ was in awe of Kohli’s effort in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden as it showed his strong mental grit as he came out to bat after splitting the webbing of his left thumb. It was an example of his sheer determination.
Stating that chasing 180 in a must-win game wasn’t an easy effort and a loss would have been curtains for RCB’s campaign but the way Kohli played, it seemed like he was never in any sort of discomfort. One of India’s most successful captains, Sourav Ganguly, went ahead and even praised the Delhi-lad for his knock against Kings XI Punjab within 48 hours, in the very next match. He said,” Virat looks to be in the form of his life, but what stands out for me is his desire to win. And this is so infectious that the entire team seems to be falling in line behind the leader.”
Depicting on the fact that there are six teams competing for a place in the playoffs, he added,” There is still no absolute clarity about who will feature in the final four. RCB, Gujarat Lions, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils and the Knight Riders are all breathing down each other’s neck for those playoff slots. It is going to be a test of character and whoever holds their nerve will race past the other.”
