Injuries continue to strike Gujarat Lions (GL) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. This time Brendon McCullum and Nathu Singh will be flying back home. McCullum announced the same on his Twitter account. In the second tweet, he thanked the team management along with the support staff and the players. McCullum even posted the same messages through a video. Aaron Finch, McCullum’s GL teammate, immediately wished him speedy recovery and a safe travel back home through his Twitter account. GL owner Keshav Bansal expressed disappointment on missing on their star batsman for the remainder of the tournament. McCullum had pulled a hamstring during the Delhi Daredevils (DD) match last night. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD, SRH vs RPS, Match 44

A statement released by GL stated: “While McCullum endured a strain in his left hamstring during fielding against Delhi Daredevils on May 4, Nathu suffered back spasms during the Lions’ home game in Rajkot against Kings XI Punjab. Nathu hasn’t played a match since then. The New Zealander has been advised three-four weeks of intensive rehabilitation so as not to aggravate the damage in his hamstring.” McCullum has scored 319 runs at an average of 29 in the 11 matches he has played so far in this season’s IPL. His highest score was 72.

A week ago, Dwayne Bravo had been ruled out due to his injury. Andrew Tye, who was at his peak, was also struck by a shoulder injury during the thrilling Mumbai Indians (MI) match.
