Records tumbled at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Rajkot on Tuesday night during Match 20 of Indian Premier League (IPL) between Gujarat Lions (GL) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). It was Chris Gayle, who first reached to the landmark of 10,000 Twenty20 (T20) runs, thus becoming the first man on this planet to do so and also the first batsman to have 10,000 runs in all three formats First-Class, List A and T20. Shortly after that, Gayle, along with Kohli, brought up duo s 10th century partnership in T20 cricket. In doing so, the pair of Gayle and Kohli became the first pair to register 10 century stands in T20s. Both Gayle and Kohli have been playing together for RCB since IPL 2011, when Gayle was brought in as a replacement for injured Dirk Nannes. Since then, Gayle and Kohli have been the fulcrum of RCB batting. Kohli, for that matter, has been playing for RCB since the inaugural edition. He is one of only four players in the history of the league to play for the same franchise in all 10 editions; the other three being Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh (Mumbai Indians) and Shaun Marsh (Kings XI Punjab). Interestingly, the pair that comes second on the list of most century-plus stands in T20 cricket also represents RCB. Kohli and AB de Villiers have 7 century-plus stands in T20 cricket. The trio of Gayle, Kohli and de Villiers, as always, will have to shoulder bulk of the responsibility in the remainder of ongoing season of IPL for RCB.
