In the clash of mid-table sides, Delhi Daredevils (DD) rounded off against Gujarat Lions (GL) in match no. 42 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. This was a high scoring affair as both sides registered collectively over 400 runs at the Feroz Shah Kolta Stadium in Delhi. Chasing a mammoth 209 to win, Delhi Daredevils’ Rishabh Pant produced a whirlwind-type innings that knocked Gujarat Lions out of the contest. Pant along with Sanju Samson added 143 runs for the second wicket that made the chase quite easy. While Samson scored 61 off 31 balls, it was Pant’s 43-ball 97 that made the victory possible. Pant sadly missed out on a well-deserved hundred, getting out on a 43-ball 97 that included 6 fours and 9 humongous sixes. Pant was adjudged as Man of the Match for his outstanding show. In the post-match presentation, Pant opened up on his partnership with Samson. “Me and Sanju always thought, if we get a bad ball, we will make full use of that. If we get three regularly [consecutively], we will go for the sixes,” he said. FULL CRICKET UPDATES, Delhi Daredevils (DD) vs Gujarat Lions (GL), IPL 2017 – Match 42 at Delhi
Pant also added he himself likes hitting massive sixes. “Most of the times I like to play aggressive, but this was that kind of a wicket where we could play our shots and that’s what we did today,” he explained. Moving ahead in the tournament, Pant said that DD are taking one game at a time and not looking at the future too much. “We are taking one match at a time and we are doing good at that. So let’s continue doing that. Thank you so much,” he concluded.
