Hello, good evening and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates’ post for the Match No. 42 in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Gujarat Lions (GL) at the former’s home ground, Feroz Shah Kotla. A loss here for either side will mean they are out of contention for the playoffs. Delhi received a big blow when they lost their regular captain Zaheer Khan to an injury. Karun Nair had a disappointing start to his IPL captaincy career when DD were cleaned up for 67. However, the side made amends against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) when they pulled off an unlikely win.
GL too have not been lucky with injuries. First they lost the service of Dwayne Bravo and then Andrew Tye’s shoulder dislocation ended his IPL campaign. Luck has not favoured them on field as well. They came agonizingly close to win against Mumbai Indians (MI) when Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliance in the Super-Over made the difference. They almost pulled off another win against Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) but this time they were done by a Ben Stokes-special.
Both the sides are in similar situation at the moment with DD being at an advantageous situation having played one less game. There is no doubt that the sides will treat this game as a knockout clash.
