Delhi Daredevils (DD), under the leadership of Karun Nair, have been on a rampage lately in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. After their superb win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match No. 40, DD stormed past Gujarat Lions (GL) in Match No. 42. DD miraculously chased down 209 runs set by GL at Kotla on Thursday. This means DD still have a slight chance of qualifying for the playoffs stage. They currently have 8 points from 10 games, with as many as 3 home games in their kitty. Nair replaced their regular skipper Zaheer Khan after the latter was injured. Nair’s form with the bat has blown hot and cold so far. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson’s smashing partnership of 143 runs helped DD get over the mark with 7 wickets to spare. Pant walked out to bat at No. 3 and ensured that his side stayed in the hunt always. He scored a belligerent 97 off 43 balls, inclusive of 6 fours and 9 sixes. Nair in the post-match presentation sounded elated and happy. “Amazing performance. One of the best partnerships I have ever seen. Can’t have a plan when you are chasing so much,” Nair said on the amazing partnership between Pant and Samson. Nair further added that the team is performing as per their team discussions. “So glad we could pull this off. We spoke about playing with freedom couple of matches ago, and so happy we are going out there and executing it,” Nair concluded.
