Imran Tahir has moved to within two wickets of matching Kagiso Rabada for the Purple Cap for most wickets in IPL 2019, after Chennai Super Kings‘ six-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday.
Tahir dismissed Ishan Kishan and Krunal Pandya off successive deliveries in the 14th over of Mumbai Indians’ successful chase of CSK’s 131, which took his wickets tally this season to 23. Delhi Capitals’ pace spearhead Rabada has 25 wickets to own the Purple Cap, but has been ruled out of the IPL with injury.
Tahir has at least one more match to add to his wickets count, when CSK meet the winner of today’s Eliminator between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on Friday.
List of most wickets in IPL 2019:
On the Orange Cap table for most runs in IPL 2019, MI wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock became the fourth batsman this season to get to 500 runs. The South African made eight runs to take his run tally to 500.

David Warner still leads the Orange Cap table by some distance, with 692 runs from 12 innings. Warner has left the IPL and his record looks certain not to be surpassed, with KL Rahul (593) and Andre Russell (510) not in the playoffs.
