A 34-run win over Mumbai Indians in match 47 of IPL 2019 has kept Kolkata Knight Riders‘ hopes of making the playoffs alive.
Defending a total of 232/2 after fifties to Andre Russell, Chris Lynn and Shubman Gill, KKR beat MI for their fifth win of the tournament. This gave them 10 points in all, which is the same as Sunrisers Hyderabad (fourth place), Kings XI Punjab (sixth) and Rajasthan Royals (seventh).
After beating Mumbai, KKR are at fifth position on the IPL 2019 points table while MI remain at third with 14 points. This was KKR’s first win after six losses in a row.
(Talking points: KKR snap six-match losing streak, belligerent Pandya eclipses Russell)
This is how the eight teams are placed as of April 29:
On the Orange Cap table for most runs in IPL 2019, Russell has now moved to second place behind David Warner. After his belligerent 80 not out against Mumbai, Russell has 486 runs at an average of 69.42 to surpass Delhi opener Shikhar Dhawan and sit behind SRH’s Warner who has 611 runs.
On the Purple Cap table for most wickets in IPL 2019, Delhi’s strike bowler Kagiso Rabada remains on top with 25.
