Defending IPL champions Chennai Super Kings have beaten Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets to reclaim the top spot on the IPL 2019 points table on Tuesday.

After losing two consecutive away games last week, CSK returned home to the MA Chidambaram Stadium and chased a target of 176 with one delivery remaining.

With 16 points, CSK have all but confirmed their place in the IPL playoffs. With this narrow defeat, last year’s runners-up SRH remain at fourth place on the points table.

Shane Watson, who before this game had managed 147 runs in ten innings, roared back to form with a scintillating 53-ball 96 to power CSK towards victory. Needing nine from the final over of the game, Chennai lost Ambati Rayudu for 21 with the scores level but managed to win off the penultimate delivery.

This win has pushed Delhi Capitals down from No 1 to second on the points table.

The Shreyas Iyer-lead franchise had on Monday displaced CSK from the top of the table with victory over Rajasthan Royals. Now, CSK are back at the top with a two-point lead over Delhi.
