Jaydev Unadkat thanked Steve Smith and Co. after winning the Man of the Match award following Rajasthan Royals (RR) seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 45th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.
The left-arm pacer, who did not enjoy too many good performances in the ongoing IPL before Saturday, admitted that he needed a performance like the one he gave against SRH.
“All I can say is I needed this. I have had a tough time and I needed this to boost my own confidence. The management and Smudge (Steve Smith) have been backing me. I needed them in such tough moments, really glad,” said Unadkat.
He scalped two wickets, conceding 26 runs in his four overs, and played a pivotal role in RR pulling back the things after David Warner-Manish Pandey’s 75-run stand. (ALSO READ: Steve Smith seeks winning end to his IPL 2019 campaign)
Unadkat dismissed Shakib Al Hasan and Deepak Hooda as RR reduced SRH to 137/7 from 103/1.

“I think they had a good powerplay but we always knew we could come back once it was over,” said Unadkat.
“It was going to get harder and harder. We took the pace off the ball, had the fielders in right positions and that helped us in the end,” he concluded.
