Three-time winners Mumbai Indians held on for a narrow six-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday night at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

With RCB needing seven runs to win and six for a Super Over, Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga bowled a full toss to Shivam Dube which produced one run. However, replays on the TV screen showed that Malinga had overstepped, which left RCB skipper Virat Kohli fuming.

Had the umpire S Ravi called that front-foot no-ball, RCB would have needed six runs off the last ball of the match which would have been a free hit owing to Malinga overstepping. (READ: “We are playing at IPL level, not club cricket” fumes Virat Kohli)

Mumbai won their first game of IPL 2019 while RCB remain winless after two matches.
