In a setback for the Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2024 season, South African pacer Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the tournament due to a left lateral ankle sprain sustained during the T20I series against India in January. To fill the void left by Ngidi’s absence, the Capitals have announced Australian all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as his replacement, who joins the squad for his reserve price of Rs 50 lakh.
Ngidi’s absence from the Delhi Capitals lineup leaves a significant gap in their bowling attack, as the pacer had been a key contributor in previous seasons. Meanwhile, Fraser-McGurk, having played two ODIs for Australia, brings versatility to the squad with his batting and bowling abilities.
In another blow to the Capitals, England’s Harry Brook has also withdrawn from the IPL due to personal reasons. Purchased for Rs 4 crore by Delhi Capitals, Brook’s absence further complicates the team’s preparations for the upcoming tournament.
Expressing his reasons for pulling out, Brook shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, citing the recent loss of his grandmother as the primary factor behind his decision. Despite his excitement to join the Capitals, Brook’s commitment to his family during this difficult time takes precedence.

As they gear up to face Punjab Kings in their opening match on March 23, the Capitals will need to quickly adapt to the changes and strive for success in the IPL 2024 season.
