Axar Patel has fetched the highest price by a capped Indian cricketer during the early exchanges of the 2019 IPL player auction in Jaipur, going to the rechristened franchise Delhi Capitals for Rs 5 crore from a base price of Rs 1 crore.

With both Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab, Axar’s former franchise, expected to go big in the auction, a bidding war ensued for the Indian allrounder. The left-arm spin bowling all-rounder sparked huge interest from KXIP and Capitals, who engaged fiercely until the Delhi-based franchise won his services.
