IPL Auction 2019: Teenaged Prabhsimran Singh soars to Rs 4.3 crore price tag, joins KXIP
Prabhsimran Singh skyrocketed out of obscurity to a massive payday.

The unheralded 17-year-old batsman from Patiala, Prabhsimran Singh, has burst into the limelight after bagging a massive price tag of Rs 4.3 crore at at the 2019 IPL player auction in Jaipur on Tuesday.

Kings XI Punjab staved off some serious bidding from Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians to secure the teenager’s services.

Captain of Punjab Under-19s, Prabhsimran had kept his base price at Rs 20 lakh. The moment his name was announced, KXIP and RCB went for him and a bidding tussle ensued. As the value touched Rs 2.80 crore, Mumbai entered the fray and upped it to 4.60 crore. But KXIP stood their ground and purchased the virtually unknown batsman.

Earlier this year, Prabhsimran scored 298 versus Amritsar in the Punjab Under-23 District Cricket Tournament, of which 194 came in boundaries (29 fours, 13 sixes).

He is the cousin of Punjab and India A batsman Anmolpreet Singh, who earlier in the day was bought by Mumbai for Rs 80 lakh from a base price of 20 lakh.
