It’s stumps on Day Two and Karnataka have completely dominated the day scoring 355 runs and losing just four wickets. Partnerships and Stuart Binny’s swashbuckling innings have given the hosts complete control of the match. Catch the Day Two Report here

He has been the ony consistent bowler today and gets his due. Pankaj Singh got good movement with the new ball and has Karun Nair in some sort of doubt. Despite being well-set in 90s, Nair tentatively leaves the delivery and the ball takes the bottom edge to hit the stumps.

A fine innings from Stuart Binny. He has crushed rest of India’s hopes with that quickfire hundred in just 82 balls. He gets four overthrows during the 90s which just makes his progress easier. This is the first hundred of the match after Karthik and Satish missed out on their tons.

Rest of India have taken the new ball. But two overs later, Harbhajan Singh expresses his unhappiness over the shape of the ball. A long discussion ensues between Harbhajan and the umpire. Eventually he is forced to be content with it. Meanwhile, Binny is busy with his aggressive innings and has raced into the 90s. Partnership of 151 now between these two and Binny has scored 93 of them.

Karnataka have moved past 300. The lead too has moved past three figures. Stuart Binny has completed a quickfire fifty. He has changed the complexion of the game.

It was yet again an impressive performance from Karnataka. After a disciplined bowling post lunch, the batsmen resisted and once Stuart Binny came in to bat, the runs flowed as he smashed the big ones and unsettled the rhythm of the bowlers. 12o runs were scored in the second session. Stuart Binny has rocketed Karnataka’s score with some big sixes off Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra. Fifty partnership comes up in just seven overs.

Sensing that that this might be a good time to strike, Harbhajan brings on Ashoke Dinda in to bowl. He was impressive in his second spell but his first over post lunch hasn’t disturbed Stuart Binny. Delivers one in the slot for Binny to drive. Binny hits one more boundary with a pull shot. The fifth ball goes for four byes and Karnataka are in the lead now.

Harbhajan Singh finally rewarded for his disciplined attack. Satish was dropped on the previous delivery by the slip fielder. But the next delivery, he tries to give it a deft touch and instead is caught behind for a well-compiled 84. Satish was not convinced that there was an edge.

The run flow has slowed down considerably post lunch. Harbhajan and Anureet continue to bowl in tandem. Just one loose delivery from Anureet was cut for a boundary by Karun Nair. But overall, a disciplined performance. Rest of India need wickets and Karnataka have been stubborn enough to resist.

It has been a sedate start for Karnataka post lunch. Harbhajan Singh and Anureet Singh started the proceedings and have been disciplined in their line.

It’s lunch on Day 2, Satish and Karun avoid playing any risky shots. And finally Harbhajan Singh comes on to bowl after 45 overs in the innings. The batsmen have no problems in dealing as there’s not much turn on offer for Harbhajan. The last over before lunch by Amit Mishra is played watchfully by the batsmen. Pankaj Singh finally rewarded for his efforts. Bowling the 39th over of the innings, he bluffs Pandey by setting him up for a short ball and delivers a fuller one. Pandey plays it awkwardly and Dinesh Karthik takes a brilliant catch behind the wickets. Pankaj beats new man Karun Nair thrice in the 41st over of the innings.

Pankaj Singh has been accurate and has bowled a good length to keep the batsmen quiet. Amit Mishra has been brought on to bowl for the first time. Surprisingly, Harbhajan Singh has still not bowled in this innings so far. Fifty partnership comes up in the 38th over with a boundary by Ganesh Satish off Mishra’s bowling. Both the batsmen are looking comfortable.

Drinks Break taken after 30 overs. Anureet Singh resumes post break. Satish picks three runs playing behind point and brings up the 100 for Karnataka. Pandey on the other end is in outstanding touch. Some glorious cover drives and flicks have kept the score moving. In the 32nd over, Satish brings up his half-century with a defensive push. He has been aggressive against Dinda’s bowling.

Ashoke Dinda is bowling from the Pavilion End now and has been extremely effective since. Has bowled a good length unlike in the first spell. Satish and Pandey are watchful. Three maiden overs bowled by Dina and Anureet Singh together.

From the first ball, Anureet Singh looked dangerous. He replaced a wayward Ashoke Dinda. The ball kept low and Rahul was circumspect. He tries to go on the backfoot to defend it but the ball skids through with low bounce and knocks down the stumps.

Rahul and Ganesh continue to capitalise. There’s not much swing and bounce on offer. Satish gallops to 32 with three consecutive boundaries in an over by Dinda. Rahul has batted cleverly playing his shots well aware of the field placements. Seems like a deja vu of the Ranji final. Satish is struggling back spasm and the physio has been called to treat him.

Good start for Karnataka, both Lokesh and Ganesh start off with well-timed boundaries. They have been watchful against the once that has moved away from them. A confident start from the duo on the second morning. Ashoke Dinda opened the bowling along with Pankaj Singh. Not much swing seen in til now.
