The ICC World T20 2014 Group B qualifier between Ireland and the Netherlands broke many records. Amongst them were the records for the most sixes scored in a Twenty20 International innings and match. The Netherlands struck 19 sixes en route to a stunning six-wicket win over Ireland. The match itself set a new record of 30 sixes in a T20I.
Australia held the record for the most sixes in one T20I innings. They hit 18 sixes against England on August 29, 2013 in Southampton. This is the same match where Aaron Finch scored a record 156 off 63 deliveries. He alone smashed 14 sixes. The previous record for the most sixes in a T20I was 24 in a match between New Zealand and India in Christchurch on February 25, 2009.

Put into bat, Ireland posted a commanding 189 for four in 20 overs. Ireland struck 11 sixes in their innings with Andrew Poynter and Kevin O’Brien getting four each. William Porterfield hit two sixes and Ed Joyce hit one maximum.
For the Netherlands, Stephan Myburgh smashed seven sixes. One two occasions he struck three sixes in-a-row. Captain Peter Borren struck two sixes. Tom Cooper hit a total of six sixes. In that, he cleared the boundary four times on the trot.
Ben Cooper pulled one over deep square-leg and Wesley Barresi struck three, which also included the winning six over long-on. The Netherlands won the match in 13.5 overs when they needed to overhaul the target in 14.2 overs or less.
They reached the Super 10s of the World Two. They will be in Group 1 along with Sri Lanka, England, South Africa and New Zealand.
