Manjula Guruge struck early, removing Paul Stirling in the second over itself in the 16th match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 between Ireland and UAE at Brisbane. Stirling, who had scored an excellent 92 in the previous match, was out edging behind to Swapnil Patil to leave Ireland at four for one. Ed Joyce was the new man in for the Irish. Earlier, Shaiman Anwar’s excellent century and cameos from Amjad Ali, Khurram Khan, and Amjad Javed ensured that UAE got to 278 for nine against Ireland. The way UAE approached their innings at the start suggested that they had no realistic hope of lasting for a full 50 overs.
