Mohammad Tauqir, UAE captain: Shaiman played a decent knock and all credit goes to him. Both him and Javed played very good innings. It was a very good batting wicket, and they were batting very well.

Gary Wilson is the obvious choice for the ‘Man of the Match’ for his match-winning knock of 80 off 69 balls.
It was a terrific match all the way through. While the Irish deserve to be lauded for the way they maintaned their nerves till the very last over, one has to feel for the UAE, especially one Shaiman Anwar and his brilliant century. Overall, it serves the world a reminder that the so-called minnows are not to be put to a dark corner of the cricketing society. Ireland move to the third position with the victory.

Ireland started their World Cup campaign in excellent fashion, beating West Indies comfortably in their opening game. UAE too managed to put on an impressive display, though they lost, against Zimbabwe in their first match. While this match might be called a clash of minnows, Ireland would feel that they have done enough to debunk that myth.
