Reigning West Indies skipper Jason Holder on Saturday stated that is main job and focus at present is to lead the West Indies side as long as possible, rather than getting himself involved into controversies. On being asked by the media about the scenario where Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels and Carlos Brathwaite declined the new central contract awarded by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), he said it was something that the administration has to deal with, and he had nothing much to do in the scenario, while he is dealing in leading the West Indies on field, and has lots to worry about the team’s performance. As I ve said about all the negative things around West Indies cricket, those things are basically beyond my control. I can t control who signs contracts, I can t control who s here with me. All I can control is my destiny on the cricket field when I step over that line, and that goes for everybody in the dressing room, said Holder on his 25th birthday, reported CMC. Holder also stated that the players should start taking responsibility of their respective cricketing careers, and the career after cricket.

Us players we have to be responsible for our own individual actions [and] take our own personal pride onto the cricket field and control cricket. At the end of the day, that s the only thing we can control and at the end of the day, cricket will be here to stay and it s been here before us. So , for me, we just go out there and control [what we can] by playing good cricket, he concluded.
