Jesse Ryder charged for showing dissent during club match in New Zealand

New Zealand cricketer Jesse Ryder has been charged for dissent after an outburst in  Wellington club cricket match. the hearing was held sometime last week, but the verdict is yet to be pronounced. This is not the first time Ryder has been involved in an altercations. He was in coma for long time after he was involved in an assault in a pub in Christchurch in March 2013. Ryder since then has made a successful return to cricket, but has not found a place in the New Zealand team on a consistent basis. Ryder has often made his opinions clear even on the field. In this case, he expressed anger at an umpire, who turned down an LBW appeal on February 24. Ryder expressed his displeasure over this decision. Former international umpire Evan Watkin and his on-field colleague in their post-match report filed a complaint with the match official and Ryder was charged for dissent after that, according to odt.co.nz. Wellington Cricket CEO Peter Clinton confirmed that the hearing was held, but Ryder did not appear. “There was a code of conduct hearing last week and we are awaiting the commissioner’s written decision on that. This was a Level 1 offence and the maximum punishment for such offences in $200 and it can be increased to $500 if it is bumped up to Level 2. Ryder’s international career appears to have stalled after struggling with form, fitness and off-field issues. He was not part of the New Zealand squad that reached the final of this year’s Cricket World Cup and is currently playing for English country Essex.
