Jos Buttler fractures thumb during Natwest T20 Blast

No specific span for recovery has yet been disclosed but Buttler is being expected to be available for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan.

England‘s Jos Buttler has suffered a fractured thumb during the Natwest T20 Blast. Buttler, who currently plays for Lancashire, was keeping wickets in the match against Worcestershire while he suffered the injury. Though the player later on batted to score a 22-ball 57, x-ray reports suggest a fracture. No specific span for recovery has yet been disclosed but Buttler is being expected to be available for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan as there is no need of an operation. As reported by espncricinfo.com, Lancashire’s official statement read, “Jos Buttler received a blow to his left thumb during Friday night’s T20…X-rays later revealed he sustained a small stable fracture which will be managed conservatively.”

Along with England, Buttler’s injury pushes Lancashire into deep trouble. The player was well in form and a key factor behind the hopes of the club retaining their title in this season of Natwest T20 Blast. Buttler performed exceptionally well in the ODI series and the one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) match against Sri Lanka.

England are set to play a Test series, followed by an ODI series and a one-off T20I match. The Test series includes four matches while there will be five ODIs. The tour is of much importance as this will be the comeback tour of Mohammad Aamer. Looking at the intensity of the tour, it will be a huge loss for the hosts if they have to take field without Buttler.
