Middle-order batsman Jean-Paul Duminy scored an unbeaten century and took South Africa to a mammoth 341 for three against Netherlands in their only One-Day International (ODI) at the VRA ground.
Duminy, who was back into the South African team after a long injury layoff, shook off the inertia and blazed his way to a 150 not out off just 119 balls. The southpaw put on a 152-run unbeaten fourth-wicket partnership with Francois du Plessis (62 not out off 43 balls), after the duo came together at 189 for three.
Earlier, South Africa captian AB de Villiers won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Proteas opened with Hashim Amla (20) and Alviro Petersen (6), who were both dismissed for the loss of just 38 runs, as the Netherlands got off to a good start.
From here, Duminy and Colin Ingram (82) steadied the wobbles and took the Proteas on their way to a big total.
After Ingram fell to Mudassar Bukhari (two for 79), Duminy and du Plessis came together and piled on 99 runs off the last five overs to deflate the hosts.
Brief scores:
South Africa 341 for 3 in 50 overs (JP Duminy 150*, Colin Ingram 82, Faf du Plessis 62*; Mudassar Bukhatir 2 for 79) vs Netherlands.
